Before, there were only fifteen Pokémon types that were available. Now, there are a total of eighteen Pokémon types. The creators added the three types later on: dark and steel type in the 2nd generation, and Fairy-type in the 6th generation. Pokémon types work like the rock, paper, scissors game where one is weak to another. One can say that Pokémon types are a complex version of rock-paper-scissors, and they are correct. Whether mixed or not, each Pokémon type has a weakness, which is a good thing for type balancing in Pokémon games.

What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Fire-type, and Why?
For pure fire-type Pokémon, my favorite is Cyndaquil and all of its evolution chains. Cyndaquil, in terms of design, captured a lot of Pokémon fans’ attention. In traditional Pokémon games like Gold and Silver, Cyndaquil can be obtained easily at the beginning of the game. For a non-pure fire type, I’ll go with Blaziken. Blaziken is a fire-fighting type Pokémon. Even though Blaziken is weak against flying types, the flashy moves and attacks are enough for me to pick it.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Water-type, and Why?
The clear favorite for me is Blastoise. Blastoise is my favorite pure water type because of how it is designed. Blastoise has two water cannons attached to its shell at the back. Also, Blastoise can deal a lot of damage in games while having a big defense stat, perfect for offense and defense. For the mixed water type, my choice is Lapras. Lapras looks like the famous artists’ depiction of the Loch ness monster. Lapras is a water and ice type, and I always wanted a ride in its back when I was a kid.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Grass-type, and Why?
Grass-type Pokémon designs are always attractive. The pure grass type Pokémon that I find the most interesting is Grookey. Grookey’s design is based on a bit of monkey, and it’s also holding a small branch. My favorite mixed-grass type Pokemon is Celebi. Celebi is a legendary Pokemon and is rare to find in Pokémon games.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Rock-type, and Why?
My favorite pure rock-type Pokemon is Rockruff. Rock-type Pokemon are not always appealing to many Pokemon fans, but Rockruff is an exception among them. The Pokemon is a puppy with rock-related powers. Also, for the mixed rock type, I go with Tyranitar. Not only is Tyranitar good in Pokemon games, but the Godzilla-like design is my favorite feature.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Steel-type, and Why?
The favorite steel-type Pokémon title goes to Galarian Meowth. The typical Meowth is a normal-type, but in the new Galar region, there’s a variation of growth that looks like a Viking and is also a steel type. The new design is a good touch, in my opinion. On the other hand, my favorite Steel-type mixed Pokémon is Dialga. The ruler of time in the Pokémon universe is a memorable title, and Dialga’s design is intimidating and appealing to me at the same time.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Fairy-type, and Why?
Togepi is my favorite fairy-type Pokémon. It’s because Togepi appeared in the first Pokémon series, and it’s so cute. Before the fairy type was introduced in Pokémon, Togepi was a normal type. The mixed fairy type that I like is the Alolan Ninetales. It looks graceful, and it is an Ice-Fairy type.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Dragon-type, and Why?
My favorite pure dragon type is Goodra. Goodra is a gentle giant that looks like a child-friendly character. But the opposite of Goodra is my next favorite dragon type which is Rayquaza. Rayquaza is a Dragon-Flying type that looks like a real dragon; intimidating and frightening is the best way to describe it. I always picked Rayquaza in the Pokémon Emerald game because it looks incredible and powerful in combat.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Electric-type, and Why?
The most popular electric Pokémon is Pikachu, but I pick Ampharos. Ampharos has a design that I like. It looks like a plesiosaur, an aquatic dinosaur that lived a long time ago. Another of my favorite electric-type Pokémon is Zapdos. Not only is it a legendary Pokémon, but it is also one of the most potent offensive electric type Pokémon.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Ice-type, and Why?
The most interesting Ice-type Pokémon for me is Vanillite. Vanillite is my favorite because it looks like my favorite dessert: ice cream. My favorite mixed ice type is Aurorus. Aurorus is another dinosaur-like Pokémon that I like. It is a mix of Rock and Ice-type and looks like a Diplodocus.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Ghost-type, and Why?
The best Ghost type for me is the Galarian Corsola. Corsola is based on coral reefs, and the form of Corsola in the new region is meaningful. However, for the mixed ghost type, Gengar is my best bet. I like Gengar because of its mischievous nature.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Dark-type, and Why?
Darkrai is my favorite Dark-type Pokémon. Not only does it look like it represents the dark type, but also it is a rare Pokémon to have in games. My favorite mixed dark type is Greninja. Greninja is a starter Pokémon in Pokémon X and Y and has a ninja frog design. The water shuriken is also one of my favorite moves that Greninja does.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Bug-type, and Why?
Caterpie is the first bug-type Pokémon that I saw and is my favorite pure bug-type Pokémon. The small caterpillar-like design is also why it’s my favorite. Its final evolution, Butterfree, is my favorite mixed-bug type Pokémon. Butterfree is a Bug-Flying Pokémon and designed based on a Butterfly.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Psychic-type, and Why?
Mew and Mewtwo are my favorite Psychic-type Pokémon. They are iconic Pokémon characters that have also appeared in Pokémon movies. They’re also my favorite because they’re one of the strongest Pokémon in games and the series. My favorite mixed psychic type Pokémon is Lugia, a sea creature with wings that looks like hands. I like the way Lugia controls the weather to its advantage.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Fighting-type, and Why?
My favorite fighting type Pokémon is Galarian Farfetch’d. The wild duck-looking Pokémon has an attractive design and also holds a giant leak in its wings. For the mixed fighting type, I like Lucario a lot, but only in games.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Flying-type, and Why?
Arceus is my favorite flying type of Pokémon. Technically, Arceus is a normal type but Arceus is the god of Pokémon and can also become any other Pokémon type. It is the strongest Pokémon in lore. But as for mixed flying type Pokémon, another favorite of mine is Talonflame. Talonflame is a falcon-looking Pokémon and has a good base speed in its kit in games.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Normal-Type, and Why?
Snorlax is my favorite normal-type Pokémon. It is in the normal type category, but it doesn’t look like one. Still, it’s a Pokémon that is difficult to defeat, and difficult to wake up when sleeping, and has a huge appetite. Braviary, on the other hand, is my favorite mixed normal-type Pokémon. The design of Braviary is like that of a bald eagle, and the color scheme used is also what I like the most.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Poison type, and Why?
My favorite Poison-type Pokémon are Ekans and Koffing. Those two Pokémon made me laugh when I was little. They always appear as the Pokémon of the antagonists in the show, Team Rocket. But my all-time favorite Pokémon is a mix of poison and grass-type Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur is the first starter Pokémon that I picked, and I was happy when I made it evolve for the first time.
What are My Favorite Pokémon of the Ground-type, and Why?
Groudon, the Pokémon who created the land itself in the Pokémon universe, is my favorite ground-type Pokémon. I like Groudon’s color scheme and abilities as well. It can intensify the sun’s effect in the game as well. And in the newer Pokémon games, its mega evolution makes it thoroughly resistant to its weakness, which is water moves. Speaking of mega evolution, Swampert, a mixed ground-water type, is my favorite of the mixed ground type Pokémon. Not only does it look like a tank, but it also has durability. That’s also why it is one of my top 3 Pokémon.
