Favoriting contents on TikTok and where to find them
TikTok allows users to create short videos on everything, including cooking hacks, musical and dance videos, learning platforms, etc., which they can share with others in the media. The app helps users to showcase their talents.
TikTok was first released in the Chinese market in 2016. Currently, TikTok has 500 million monthly users, which makes it the 9th most popular social network. It is far more than Twitter’s 126 million and far less than Facebook’s 2.45 billion. It is leading LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, and Snapchat.
Over the last few years, TikTok’s popularity peaked and has become one of the largest learning platforms in the world. It is available in over 150 markets, in 75 languages, and is the most downloaded app in 40+ countries.

#LearnOnTikTok: The future of TikTok as a learning platform.
Even though TikTok has been popular for short musical videos, the trend has started to change and the platform is being used for many versatile applications including education.
The hashtag #LearnOnTikTok got over 7 billion views. The social platform has become a popular learning community, which indicates the vast changes in the educational platform in the near future, and this change initiated its journey before the pandemic started.
During the pandemic, the social media app has become a very trending place for teachers and students. One of the reasons behind this is that the old education system is out of date and boring, students don’t feel encouraged to engage anymore.
Younger generations are now adapted to learn tons of things in a small amount of time, through their technical devices and the technology that is supported by those devices. So there is no doubt that the old education system and its mechanism are going to crash soon.
TikTok is fun, easy to engage, and people feel encouraged to learn on this platform. Not obliged to get a degree or certificate, but with a genuine passion for learning. Hence, TikTok made learning fun. Using TikTok is easy, whether you are a video creator, want to share information, or looking to find an audience. It removes the controlling environment of the traditional education system and builds a friendly relationship between the teachers and the students.
Furthermore, TikTok provides live connection and a community or accountability, two major advantages from other online learning platforms we previously had. Many students do better when they have peer pressure and follow-up scopes in their online learning platforms. Unlike, the previous slow, self-inspired online learning, TikTok created an environment, where teachers and students can feel like they belong to a classroom, whether they are thousands of miles away, whether the number of students in the classroom is over a million.
On the other hand, likewise all other online learning platforms, TikTok opened up scopes to meet new students and teachers independent of their institutions. For example, @Iamthatenglishteacher started posting grammar lessons in TikTok to help her middle-school students, but now she has over 1.5 million followers.
All these giving us hope that TikTok and other similar technologies can open up a golden age of learning and teaching, where everyone will feel belonged, at the same time, learning becomes a fun activity.
